A Limestone Plant on Simatek's 3C Filter

DLG-Aggersund Kalkvaerk, a limestone plant, located in Northern Jutland, Denmark, installed a traditional square bag house with Ryton bags in 1992 to clean their 40,000 acfm hot exhaust gases at 375 degrees Celsius from their limestone spray drier. Within five years, the square filter was completely corroded and non-functional. The Ryton bags lasted a maximum of 6,000 hours and maintenance was very costly and time consuming. The square filter was then replaced with a round, low pressure Simatek series 3C filter.

The Ryton bags of similar quality have now worked very well for more than 8,000 hours in Simatek's 3C filter. Compared to the square bag house where 588 bags were used, Simatek's 3C filter only used 280-8 meter (25 ft.) long bags. The cleaning system of the 3C filter achieves a very effective de-dusting of the kiln by cleaning only one bag at a time with high volume low pressure cleaning air, ensuring a high and stable run. The pure and clean lime dust captured by this process filtration in average amounts to 13,000 lbs. per hour is ready for sale as a final product.

Maintenance is minimal, and expenses for electricity and power consumption have decreased as, for example, the old 37 kW compressor was replaced with a 4kW one. The pressure in the old filter was over 200 mm WG (8"WG) compared to Simatek's low pressure of around 4" WG

Where the old bag house only lasted 5 years it is estimated that Simatek's filter will work well for at least the next 20 years.
