A District Heating Power Plant on Simatek's 3C Filter

Nakskov Fjernvarme, a district heating power plant located in Nakskov Lolland, Denmark, installed a 3C filter in August of 1997 after a straw fired boiler with emission requirement of less than 40 mg/m3. The popular Simatek filter is able to keep the particulate emissions down to as little as and below 3 mg/m3.

This power plant had previously installed a traditional Electrostatic Precipitator, but during the warranty period the ESP performed so badly and had very high emissions (usually up to 250 mg/m3), that the Environmental authorities demanded that they should either purchase a better filter or the plant would be closed down. Nakskov Fjernvarme asked the German ESP manufacturers to remove the mal-functioning ESP after less than 18 months in use.

Because of Simatek's experience and successful results with particulate filtration of flue gases from straw-fired boilers Simatek was asked to present a solution for Nakskov Fjernvarme. The solution was Simatek's 3c bag filter with 6-meter (20 ft.) long bags. The 3C bag filter was installed and the efficient cleaning mechanism, cleaning only one bag at a time with a large volume of low pressure air, was the best solution for the straw fired boiler.
