Holman Paper on Simatek's 3C Filter

In July 1997 two 3C filters were installed at Holmen Paper, located in Norrkobing, Sweden, to capture the exhaust gases from an old boiler which was used since 1976, and was producing 80 tph of steam at 78 bar. The two boilers were installed at Holmen Paper, one for Pulp and Papermill waste equipped with a Flackt/ABB electrostatic precipitator, and one oil-fired without a filter, burning heavy fuel with high sulfur content.

For the second boiler, oil fired without a filter, a new process was used. The process included the injection of specially prepared NaHCO3 (with some NH3-compounds) into the boiler to reduce emissions of Nox and SO2, this process soon required a new filter to be installed. Holmen Paper chose two Simatek filters that were installed in two steps, the first filter, with 8-meter long bags, was installed in 1996 and was tested for 12 months. The second filter was installed in 1997; both filters have given positive results.
